Mercer Elementary School Reviews

The level of parent involvement is unlike anything I have ever experienced. There are always parents helping in the classroom and at extra curricular activities. The parents donate their time and money to make this school community strong. The teachers and parents are friendly and striving for the same goals...to make the childrens learning experience a success and form friendships (relationships) that will last a life time. The academic atmosphere is top quality. We have a 'gifted' child in our family and the school has done a great job of keeping him challenged. As you can tell our family is happy with Mercer. If you are undecided schedule a tour with the Principal, Mr. Gates.

Mercer has been a great experience for my daughter. She is in the 5th grade and has had a very good year. Just moving in this year they made her feel very welcome. The principal Mr. Gates is one of the best I have seen. The special services dept. is phenomenal.

Great academics and prep for middle school, though standardized test focus can be tiresome. Several truly amazing teachers. Surprisingly strong sense of community given relatively large size (over 800). New principal('05-'06) has taken strong leadership role and made big impact; especially impressive is his extra effort to get to know students personally. Not much in way of extracurricular available, but co-curricular programs are good. Music program is excellent--band, strings, chorus--as is art instruction. Strong fine arts/music enrichment program supported by PTA gives exposure to variety of performances and venues.

I have two children at Mercer. Not only was the education excellent, but the teachers all know the students. Mercer has given my children the very best educational foundation I could ask for.

Both of my sons attended Mercer for k-6. They received an outstanding education, which can be verified by there excellent grades and emotional/social skills displayed at the upper level. Mercer teachers care about all students and it is shown through there hard work, dedication, and behind the scenes efforts that they put into their students and classes.
