Sycamore High School Reviews

Sycamore schools are good overall for many reasons, and being located in an affluent area is a big part. Parents should be getting some credit for the success of Sycamore schools than they do. With any school district, there are good and bad teachers, and those who give the extra effort. Be sure to ask other parents their particular experience with a given teacher. My kids go to Sycamore, and we have had some outstanding teachers and some real duds. My experience is that the principals will take the side of their teachers over you if you have an issue.

As a former studant and now a parent. I know that there is no better public school in the area. From talking with friends about the schools districts that they live in I know that Sycamore goes above and beyond for not only the students but parents as well. As when I was at these school years ago the teacher still call home and give updates when needed on at a time that the parent is home and can talk. They also have a pre K program the only thing I would say about that is get enrolled into that ASAP it fills up fast. I wish they would open more classes to get all the children in.

From the caring and involved administration to all the supporting staff and teachers, the Sycamore School District is one of Ohio's finest. The music department is outstanding. Aviator's Sports bring 'team' and 'competition' together, delivering encouragement and pride for the students. Parents care and are involved. They support activities in all the necessary and little ways, showing support and unity with the administration/teachers/coaches/instructors for the best interest of the students. If you are new to the area, or looking for a better way, for your child's future, you will not be disappointed with the level of commitment we have experienced in the Sycamore Schools.

Lots of activities available

some of sycamores younger teachers are good at what they do and are really interested in helping the students, however most of the older teachers have been around for a while and it just seems that they are just doing what they have to do to kill time until they get their retirement and dont really care too much about the individual students issues and grades

Sycamore High School is consistently among the best schools in the state of ohio. With it's superior academic programs, as well as offering the most mens and womens varsity sport options in the state for any high school it rests in an active business community in the northeastern suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a public high school with an enrollment around 1900 annually. They offer many things that most other high schools do not. I attended the school and graduated among 41 national merit scholars in that same year. The school offers advanced placement as well as a wide array of language classes. They also have advanced facilities for children with learning disabilities. It is also a national school of excellence!

Sycamore High School is set in a very affluent area of Cincinnati. Teachers are underpaid but excellent. The students are eclectic and well-rounded. Very multi-cultural and success based. Gorgeous kids with hot cars and great minds. Somewhat snobby, but when you have that much money, who wouldn't be? Most of the students are accepting of one another; and everyone finds their own niche. No one is left out at Sycamore. Overall, it is a public school better than any of the private schools in the area. And I highly recommend it.

When I moved back to Cinti, in 1994, I researched and found this to be the best district overall to move in to. I haven't been disappointed with the choice. My oldest graduated with a strong academic background and found college easy after going through Sycamore's AP program. Now my youngest is a Freshman and while she too is in many AP classes, her love is Sports. Sycamore has a strong sports program, while not making it overshadow the academics. Their athletic program is diverse, not just traditional Football and Basketball programs, but kids with talents like Water Polo and Lacrosse can excel as well. The Music program is also very strong. Kids can find their niche and be accepted. And being smart is considered 'cool'.

Academically very good school, with many choices of accelerated and AP classes. The teachers for these are mostly great. based on the national merit schlars and other competitions, the school outperforms most, if not all, public schools in the area in cluding Wyoming and Indian Hills. But, like most school sports get the attention in school. Easy to stay away from trouble. Overall, a great school.

School outperforms the expectations of area parents and neighbors.

I know it is a great school, any time my grandson does not want to miss school, it has to be good.

I totally agree with the reviewer who said 'middle tier' students get left out at Sycamore. Having three children in this system, two who have graduated, one a new freshman, I have dealt with the Sycamore school district since 1986. My eldest graduated with AP honors. My middle child was supposed to go into AP classes but we refused opting for a more rounded highschool experience, and the third is more artistically inclined then academically. We have had to fight counselors and teachers not to label our third child a 'problem' because he does not fit the 'high-achiever' status which Sycamore deems the most ideal. This school does everything 'over the top', and if you want to be in a sport, play, choir, etc., it will become your life, as 110% is expected for all you do. It is a shame our children can't be kids.

Academically a very fine school. Ranked #2 or 3 in all of Cincinnati, after Wyoming schools. A bit too large and the middle tier kids get lost. Over time, the high school seems to be placing more emphasis on the overachievers. Also the hard sciences are heavily favored subjects over the liberal arts and humanities.

No school is perfect, but this one is close. Great administration. Mediocre counselors. Activities galore. Dedicated teachers. Very aggressive and proactive about drugs and alcohol abuse. Diverse population generally gets along great. Student body generally is enthusiastic and well behaved. After prom is fantastic. Weak points: accelerated math program is awful in terms of teaching and support. Honors math is much better, but not weighted.
