North College Hill Junior/Senior High School Reviews

I recently just graduated from North College Hill. It is true the teaching of majority of the teachers lacked but there were several that not only taught us the curriculm but also taught us how to be better people. Yes the hallways are rowdy and yes there will be students who dislike the school but thats everywhere not just NCH just like there are teachers who excel in teaching and teachers who shouldn't be teaching. It's all a part of life. DEAL WITH IT '08'

I am a parent of 2 kids who went to NCH High School and a 3rd that is there now one graduated the class of 2008 the other one did not and the 3rd is only in 8th grade but all 3 of my kids hate(d) this district and they have all grown up here in the neighborhood but from one child to the other nothing has changed the way teacher and staff talk to the kids and parents, no respect what so ever. But the staff wants respect from the kids most of the kids give what they get and the teachers act like they don't understand why the kids act like they do, well I understand because I see how the way the staff acts and the way the students act. Not all of the teachers act like this but 90 percent of them do. 1of 2 postings

I am an alumus of north college hill and have attended the school distict from k-12. I never had any problems with the school until later in high school. There was a big difference between my freshman and senior years there. The halls became more rowdy between classes, nobody dressed up for dances (or attended them for that reason), teachers started to slack in teaching, and the school started to seem really dirty. Not to mention the principal at the time did not do her work. After I left I heard that students did not even have class schedules for the first day of school one year! I must say that because of some of the great teachers I did have the experience with (Trytten, Kemphaus, Shelton, Theado, Hardaway) I was able to excel in college. I just graduated college with a high GPA and was on the Dean's list.

I feel that this school is seriously lacking in the ability to teach our children. There is little to no respect given by the student population to the staff and faculty and I as a parent can't say that I blame the children. The teachers and staff speak in an unprofessional manner to the children and their parents. If you are considering this school please run in the opposite direction as fast as you can.

I am a former student and have been shocked by some of the things that i have heard others say about the school. I felt the school did all they could to help guide me to be the woman that I now am. There were several teachers that i felt at the time was not good but now that i am grown I respect them more for the strictness they shown especially one Mrs. Shelton. I never graduated per say but i was taught a valuable lesson by the way that particular teacher stuck by her words in the beginning of the school year. I miss alot of the times I had there and will never forget the TROJAN Spirit.

I am not a parent, but a graduate of NCH from 1998. I enjoyed the shcool immensely, and definitely benefited from going there. I went on to earn my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. I would not be where I am now if it wasn't for the teachers at the school (Kemphaus, Shelton, Trytten to name a few). The small enrollment was great also, as it allowed me to play three sports, march in the band, and become a Thespian. I did all of this while staying on the Honor Roll for four years. I would recommend NCH to anyone, and thank all that were involved in my time there.

I graduated from NCH and I feel like I had a good education from there, for the most part. Certain teachers, esp. Kemphaus, Hardaway, Theado, and several others in particular really prepared me for college. I will admit that some teachers let you be lazy, but I'm sure that that can be true at other schools, also. I will also say that in the past few years the school has gone majorly downhill when it comes to misbehavior and how dirty the school looks. When I was a freshman there, it did not seem to have nearly as many problems. People even wore nice dresses to dances, unlike now! Obviously, the basketball there is wonderful, and i am very proud of that, but that is not what school is about. Even the student section there did not all wear school colors, which is kind of shocking for a state-champ team.

I am a graduate from NCh and I feel that the school was great and now is going down hill. I went to College and alot of my classmates at college were having problems with some of their courses. However, I was introduced to alot of the courses at NCH. Therefore, I had no problems with college and I thank all of my teachers.

I am a little surprised at the statements being made. I feel NCH schools are very good. I have never had any problems. My son has a learning disability. The school has done everything possible to help him and to make sure he is receiving the proper education. I am very happy with NCH for all their hard work and efforts they have put forward in helping him. If the parents are involved with their child, they will have a better outlook in school as well as life. Everyone needs to be involved in our childrens education. After all, they are the future.

After reading the 'overwhelming' number of critical reviews of this school system, I would advise these 3 to take a closer look at the state stats. North College Hill surpassed state averages in all areas of proficiency testing. How can this be true if 'all teachers are bad?' As a former student and parent of 2 graduate students I have always felt the best way to bring about change is by being involved. This does not mean only attending the sporting events. Go to school board meetings, join parents groups. talk to your child's teacher and volunteer.

This is a very poor quality school. As a taxpayer I am extremly dissatisfied with the teachers.

I am a student at North College Hill, and it has poor education preparation and education in general. The discipline has become such a problem that a second extended detention (Tuesday school) has been instated after school. It is inadequate, dirty, and a horrible place to strive for an education.

I would not send your child to this school. It has a poor learning environment. Kids are constantly yelling throughout hallways and it seems like there is always a fight.
