V L T Academy Middle Reviews

VLT does have trouble keeping teachers for many reasons, but I believe the biggest reason is the unconventional structure of the school. The students who attend VLT need closed walls and limited class size in order to perform and achieve at their best and VLT does not provide this kind of setting. I would not recommend anyone sending their child there.

I have a child in kindergarden at VLT. In just the short 3 months, she has learned to spell many colors, knows how to write upper and lower case alphabet, reads license plate numbers and signs while I am driving (this makes me nuts as she expects me to acknowledge what she has read while I keep my eye on the road) and attempts to read. Thus far, I am pleased with this school. I wish the vm at 421-1129 would get updated, it's still talking about summer hours.

The empty star for missing parents. I too am a teacher and teaching is not just a job. It is a 'calling' dedicated to helping individuals learn. We love our school. Our children deserve the best possible education and teachers who love them and want to see them succeed. WE DO!! We need parents who return calls, come to parent/teacher conferences and care about behavior in class. We do not need more new teachers, more sports or extra curricular activities. Students need to see their parents working side by side WITH the teachers. These are OUR children--we are supposed to be a team.

The reason for the high turnover of teachers is the lack of parent involvement. It's not always the teacher's fault; parents that don't get involved in their child's education should not even have a say! The teachers here work very hard with little reward; give them a break and work on the family and parent!

I really love VLT Academy. Their focus is on our children. For the school to be a new school it has already done great things. It is continuosly growing and I see great things in the future for the school.

I think that school still has a lot of growing to do. The school has trouble retaining teachers and the turnover rate is terrible. I think my child wasted a whole school year at VLT because there were inconsistencies in the teaching strategies and lessons. It didnt seem as if a lesson plan was being followed. I would not refer anyone to the school.
