Gabby’s Restaurant: An Italian American Cafe

Enjoy “American cuisine with an Italian flair” at Gabby’s Cafe, a family-owned and operated establishment. The warm and welcoming atmosphere of Gabby's Cafe makes guests feel like family, too.

The exterior of Gabby’s restaurant  is instantly recognizable, with its rounded glass block front that gives it an art deco feel. Inside, there’s an occasional splash of that chrome era, especially in the restroom décor, but mostly the interior has a warm, Tuscan feel.

The dining room, with the full service bar beyond, has a tiled floor, the look of tiled walls with soft earth toned wallpaper, and artfully mixed styles of pendant lighting.  Raised booths lend a sense of privacy in a room sometimes packed with diners, seated in adjacent booths and comfortable tables.  Artwork along the walls mainly features framed prints, including some of wine bottles and a martini glass, along with a neon cocktail sign, all serving to remind diners that there's an extensive drink menu.  A variety of draught and bottled beers are available, as well as red, blush and white wines and specialty drinks including an Italian Margarita, Flirtini, and Rum Runner.

The menu showcases a variety of food. Pizzas come on a whole wheat or traditional crust, and with some out of the ordinary ingredients. Specialties include the Magnifico Meatball, Mediterranean, Fire Grilled Vegetable and the Mona Lisa, featuring sliced roasted eggplant, creamy goat cheese, three cheeses, diced tomatoes and roasted garlic. Other Italian dishes include Chicken and Eggplant Parmesan, Chicken Gorgonzola, and DiStasi’s Lasagna, available also as frozen entrée to heat and serve at home.  Finally, under “Gabby’s Favorites” the menu lists items like New York Strip, Fish and Chips, and Parmesan and Artichoke encrusted Salmon. You might think with all of these special entrees at Gabby’s that a burger would just be a burger.  But it’s not.

In fact, Gabby’s made the list of Cincinnati’s best burgers and with good reason. The burger is delicious with its ½ pound of certified Angus Beef, cooked to your preference with the choice of two toppings, and served on a soft bakery bun.
