Enjoy fast, casual and delicious Mediterranean and Greek cuisine, along with favorite American dishes at Baba’s Shawarma Grill.
Enticing spices greet you as you walk in, as does the extensive overhead menu. Choose anything from a quarter-pound burger to a beef kabob; fried cheese sticks to shawarma, the Mediterranean sandwich-style wrap that features meat slow roasted on a spit, for which the restaurant is named. (Baba's chicken shawarma features poultry marinated in Baba’s special sauce and served with lettuce and tomatoes)
In Greece, this staple is called a gyro, which fits with Baba's fast-food atmosphere (it once was a Captain D’s seafood place. Renovations have replaced the nautical theme with bright yellow walls, attractive black accents, and even a flat screen, but the seating shows its age; it's worn and has a few tears.).
Baba's gyro is served in a basket with fries and a drink. It's big, features generous layers of lamb, and, along with the usual lettuce, tomato and onion accents, gets a nice kick from its yogurt sauce.
Acook at Baba Shawarma’s Grill takes pride in the menu. “We offer a lot more variety (than other gyro places). You want mushrooms?” he asks. “Something different? We’ll do it.”
While there's pllenty of variety with the entrees at Baba's, there’s only baklava or cheesecake for dessert. But the baklava is excellent, with paper-thin layers of pastry; it’s rich, sweet and delicious.
