Description:
Funny Bone on the Levee
After co-starring in the popular Fox sketch comedy show "In Living Color" and on the big screen with former "In Living Color" co-star Jim Carrey, Tommy Davidson is taking his act back to the live comedy stage.
Tommy Davidson made his stand-up comedy debut in talent showcases in his hometown of Washington D.C. He spent some time performing in local talent showcases before being spotted by concert promoters who promptly positioned Tommy as the opening act for such music stars as Patti LaBelle, Kenny G, and Luther Vandross. It was soon after he moved to Los Angeles that Tommy met Robert Townsend and Keenan Ivory Wayans while he was trying to make ends meet working in a local deli during the day and performing stand-up comedy at night. Wayans was impressed with Davidson and offered him an opportunity to audition for a prime time variety show called "In Living Color". The audition was a success and the show quickly became both a ratings hit and a cult favorite. Davidson's impressions of Sammy Davis, Jr. and Michael Jackson, among others, have become infamous. Even with the huge popularity of "In Living Color", the show was just a stepping stone in Davidson's entertainment career.
He went on to co-star in "Booty Call" with Jamie Foxx and "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls" with Jim Carrey, as well as starring in three HBO Specials and appearing as a regular guest host on NBC's "Later". Other credits include "Juwanna Man," "The Proud Family," and Comedy Central's "Premium Blend," among many others.
***Tommy Davidson is a Special Engagment. No passes will be accepted.***
