When a gourmet chef opens a neighborhood bar, something special happens. Gordo’s in Norwood has the warmth and charm of a neighborhood bar, along with an attractive, upscale décor, and amazing food.
Owner and chef Raymond Gordo, a Norwood native, served as Sous Chef at Pho Paris and as Chef of Cuisine under Cincinnati's most famous chef, French Master Chef Jean-Robert de Cavel. With 16 years of experience in restaurants, Gordo knows the business.
Attention to detail is evident the moment you walk in. There’s the glossy, dark bar, shiny glassware, flat screens showing sports news, and neon beer signs, along with fresh champagne-yellow walls, and multicolored miniature pendant lights. A friendly server greets you, and if they’re not too crowded, seats you immediately. Start with an appetizer, including bar favorites like Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks, Chicken Wings and Chicken Quesadillas, along with less-expected menu items like Crab Cake, lump crab meat, with herbs and honey lime creole mustard.
But the burgers are the main thing here. And the variety is vast. Choices among the burgers include the Chocolate Stout, with goat cheese folded into chocolate shavings and cocoa dust, mayonnaise and chocolate stout mushroom sauce. Then there's Gordo's Burger, topped with roasted poblanos, mushrooms, onions, smoked bacon, boursin cheese and mayonnaise. One of the most popular burgers at Gordos is the Jean-Robert, topped with grape compote, mayonnaise, bleu cheese and goat cheese.
All burgers come with a side of steak fries, but diners can upgrade their side for $2.
Besides burgers, the menu also features soups, salads and sandwiches. There’s even a kid's menu and, of course, desserts, including Crème Brulee and a Chocolate Macadamia Tart.
But Gordo’s is a bar, and while space here prohibits the listing of all the beers, wines, mixed drinks and liqueurs served, you can click here to see the local, regional, national and imported beers and ciders available, along with the wine list of vintages sold by the glass or the bottle.
HelloCincinnati Tip: Monday – Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. enjoy Happy Hour at Gordo’s with 75 cents off drinks and $1 off appetizers.
