Brazenhead Irish Pub in Mason Inspired by Oldest Pub in Ireland

You can’t miss it. Brazenhead Irish Pub in Mason, a three-story restaurant with several adjoining wings, covers a corner lot on Tylersville Road. Despite its size, Brazenhead Irish Pub is a warm and welcoming place.

Down basement stairs to the pub floor, visitors will find a large bar, pool table, dart boards and several flat-screen TVs to enjoy a game. In pleasant weather, customers can enjoy the outside and relax on a patio that overlooks a pond and fountain and sits in the shadow of the Brazenhead.

The pub's interior has a charming atmosphere created by dark woods, soft lighting and stained glass. Irish murals, substantial and comfortable furnishings, and even the hull of a ship decorate the elegant pub modeled after the Brazen Head of Dublin, Ireland, officially that country's oldest pub, opened in 1198.

Have a scotch, whiskey or draught beer and enjoy what the pub calls “traditional Irish fare with an American flair.” The menu selections include appetizers such as "Irish nachos,"  a bed of homemade crisps with cheese, corned beef hash, green onions and mild banana peppers topped with garlic sauce; homemade black bean and chick pea hummus; or Celtic crab cakes, made with crab meat and panko bread crumb coating, and served with a crisp, tangy slaw.

There are salads, burgers, sandwiches, and soups, many with an Irish touch, including the cheddar ale soup, with a deep, cheddar flavor blended with beer for a unique and delicious taste. Entrees include beef and chicken items from the grill along with traditional Irish fare such as fish and chips, shepherd's pie and Guinness beef stew. For the “little leprechauns,” a childrens menu with selections priced at $3.95-$4.95, features favorites such as chicken nuggets and grilled cheese, but also pasta alfredo and fish and crisps.

HelloCincinnati Tip:  Host your next party at Brazenhead. The restaurant has more than 10 different rooms and other areas available that can accommodate intimate gatherings of 10 close friends, or a party of 600. Information can be found on the Brazenhead website
