Dogs bark, run, and roam free at the Mount Airy Dog Park. From 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. dog guardians are welcome to bring their pets to the two acres at Area 31 where the dogs can have fun without their leashes inside a safe, fenced in grassy area.
Dog Parks are popular throughout the city because they help dogs combat obesity, release energy and bond with their keepers. However, the Mount Airy Dog Park ranks as a favorite among dog lovers for several reasons.
It features large open spaces for play and generous seating areas for people (and dogs). The park's many mature trees mean lots of shade, and the wading pool and cleaning hose keep mud-loving dogs clean. Other highlights include the availability of drinking water and restrooms (for people). Additionally, the Mount Airy dog park features an area specifically for small dogs, a good thing to help keep little pets safe.
Other safety measures discourage children from entering the dog park and require owners to accompany their dogs. It's also important that dogs be healthy and vaccinated, and that owners be responsible and clean up after their pets.
The dog park at Mount Airy was developed with the overwhelming support from area dog owners and a $7,500 grant from PETsMART Charities. It is managed by the City of Cincinnati and charges no fees, and is almost always busy with happy pooches and their loved ones.
HelloCincinnati Tip: A suggestion box hangs beneath a bulletin board that posts all the park rules, other notices, and, sadly, signs for missing or lost dogs.
